Even though I’m not skating as much as I used to, I still enjoy a pretty empty rink when I am there. But today I got a Groupon notification for half off public skating at my rink. Ahhhhh! And 585 people already bought it! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! But I have to say it’s a great marketing idea. Let’s just hope all those people show up on days that I don’t. Please!

Prashay

So today was my last day at this rink. I’ll miss it here. Some people were really nice, but I’ve never encountered a ruder office staff , I really think it would kill most of them to say good morning. Even Mean Coach has manners.

But I love that they have three rinks, which are always empty!

And I love the hot Siberian hockey coach! Well not love, it’s just a rink crush. (I’m married!)

And I love that super famous skaters just randomly showed up. Like Miki Ando!

Probably my most favorite thing about this rink was that I got to play my own music. And today was the day they really should have changed that policy. So I found this Christmas song “The Hat I Got For Christmas Is Too Beeg.” It’s so cute! It’s about a little hombre who gets a sombrero for Christmas that’s too big. Google it, seriously, google it. So I liked it so much that I added it to my skating iShuffle. Well today, of all days, not only did the song play, but it played when three Hispanic families decided to take an excursion to the ice rink.
Did you Google it yet? Exactly. Lol

Time’s Running Out

So my rink has started their summer camp schedule. It looks like a really great program … if you’re 7. For old people like me not only do they not have camp, but they are only offering 90 minutes of public skating a day. šŸ˜¦ During the school year they had 5 hours a day during the week, same as my old rink.

Yesterday it was OK, I got everything I needed to do done in 90 minutes. Today, I had a lesson and I wished I had more time to practice. The rink does have a couple of freestyle sessions during the day but they’re expensive, like $15 an hour, and they’re clogged with the camp kids.

While I would like to just have my own ice rink, I think I’m going to use this asĀ a challenge to not only manage my time on the ice better but to skate faster so I can get more done.

Also, time is runningĀ out on my stay at this rink. I’m only here for a year, so I have like 6 more months. I want to be a totally better skater by the time I leave so I really have to bust a move. I mean, it’s taken me almostĀ 4 months to get an acceptable left mohawk – that’s unacceptable!!!

And, every day I’m getting older. Yesterday I actually asked myself if I was too old to be doing this. I’ve never done that before. But I think I have a few good years left in me. I hope.

Brrrr!

My new rink is too cold!!!

I wore yoga pants –Ā the same pants I wore every day at my old rink –Ā to skate today and thought I was in the Artic.

I’m going to try out a new rink tomorrow. It’s a bit of a drive but they have an adult skate … and I heard cutie Timothy Goebel teaches there.Ā  How awesome would it be to see him there?!?! How awesome would it be if he became my coach!?!? Answer: It would be totally awesome!
