On My Ass

I fell Tuesday! YAY!!

I was doing backward crossovers, heard my blades clink and BOOM! I was on my ass!

It’s a big deal because I do not fall a lot. This is only my 13th fall in like 7 years. I even describe myself as a Weeble Wooble.

The only bad thing was that I got hurt. (I know, you’d think my ass has enough cushioning.) But the fall made my quadratus lumborum hurt – it’s the muscle that connects your pelvis and your spine. I don’t care though. Tatiana Tarosova says injury is a figure skaters constant companion – now maybe I won’t be so lonely out there … except for when MIKI ANDO shows up at my rink. Yeah, that’s right, MIKI ANDO trained at my rink last week. I ❤ her!!!!

11th Fall

I had my 11th fall yesterday!!! It’s exciting because it’s so soon after my 10th fall. Usually there is almost a year between my falls.

I think I fell because I spaced out, because I totally don’t remember what I was doing.

At least I have a nice shiner on my left knee and it happened during my last lesson with my main coach.

I had my 10th fall as an adult skater on Tuesday! (I know some of you fall 10 times a day. Good for you. Now shut up and let me finish my story.)

I learned to skate as a teenager and went through all the Learn-To-Skate classes before I graduated high school. I didn’t take lessons again until a few years after I graduated college. So since that time IN SEVEN YEARS I’ve fallen on the ice 10 TIMES.

Why is this such a big deal for me? Because Dick Button said “If you’re not falling your not getting better.”

He’s totally right. Not that you have to fall to get better, but that if you’re not pushing yourself you’re not gping to get better.

I’m built like a  Weeble Wobble and I’m a pussy so actually falling down is a big deal for me. It means that I’m pushing myself.

I always said that I’d stop counting at 10, but I think I want to really push myself and get to 15 before I move next month.
